What can you use the app for?

Scrubly is an application designed to help users clean up and manage their address books. The application works with Gmail, Google Apps contacts, Outlook and Mac Address Book. The application seeks out duplicate entries and erases the duplicate for the user. When removing a duplicate entry, Scrubly merges the contact information so nothing is lost in the process. The user will no longer have to spend time deciding which entry is the current one for a contact. Scrubly also backs up the user’s contact list before “scrubbing” and again after so the user can download their data anytime they want. The application will also comb through the user’s contact list for junk contacts, which some email services automatically create when a new contact sends the user a message. Scrubly can also resolve conflicting information entered into the wrong fields when merging contacts. The application provides users with a faster way to clean up their contact lists and safely merge or delete old entries without losing data.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Scrubly was created by BluCapp Inc. BluCapp is based in Seattle, Washington with team members located in San Francisco, California and the Philippines. The application was created to help users save time and effectively remove contact information conflicts in email and on their mobile phones. The current Scrubly team includes CEO Bob Thordarson and CTG (Chief Technical Genius) Ashvin Savani.

What are the differences to other apps?

Scrubly.com can help the user quickly and painlessly tidy up their email or mobile phone contact lists. The application offers a number of features that will remove duplicate contacts and merge contact information so nothing is lost. The user can also access a before and after file containing their contacts that can be downloaded in case they need to go back and find something that was removed or changed.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The Scrubly website is highlighted by a brown otter wearing a blue hat and carrying a broom. The overall site design is very unique, with an elegant logo font and yellow bristles adorned in delicate bubbles. The application maintains a very professional, clean appearance that makes it ideal for almost anyone. The user can see any compatible duplicates found and review the items to decide whether they should be merged or not.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can sign up for a Scrubly account by clicking the black and gold “Sign Up” button found in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. The site mentions that sign up takes a total of two seconds, and this appears to be quite accurate. The user is asked to supply three pieces of information: a username, email address and password of at least six characters. The user must also check the small white box at the bottom of the form to confirm their agreement with the Scrubly terms of use before submitting the form.

What does it cost to use the application?

Scrubly provides users with three easy to understand plans to choose from. The first is a free membership that allows scrubbing for up to 250 contacts. The user can perform unlimited scrubs with the free plan. An unlimited plan is available that includes unlimited scrubs and unlimited contacts for approximately $25 per year. Users can also purchase a one time scrub which allows unlimited contacts for around $10.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Scrubly is beneficial for anyone who has a large quantity of contacts that need cleaning up. The application can take a lot of time out of managing hundreds of contacts or more. Those with only a few contacts may prefer to do it on their own (though the free plan is available for users with 250 contacts or less).

  • Choose from two membership options or a one time scrub
  • Merge duplicate contacts so no information is lost
  • Automatically delete junk and duplicate contacts
  • Access a saved version of your contacts before and after scrubbing
  • Quickly resolve contact information conflicts
